If you currently have a metabolism with the speed of a tortoise or a cheetah, you still need to be able to rely on your metabolism to help you with weight loss and fitness training. Men tend to burn calories faster than women, even when they are resting. But for most people, whether they are male or female, metabolism slows down dramatically after the age of 40.

- Weight train. It's so much easier to burn fat for longer when you weight train. Not only does muscle become denser than fat, it takes up less space and it uses more energy.
